This article explains how to share an existing Mediasite presentation in your D2L course. For information on creating a new presentation, see the Mediasite support articles

D2L is the best place to share and post course-related videos so students will always know where to find the video link.

Step 1: Acquire the Mediasite Presentation Share Link

Navigate to My Mediasite. Select the presentation that you want to share from your video repository.

New videos uploaded or created with the Mediasite Desktop Recorder (MDR) are set to "Private" by default, meaning only the video creator will be able to view the video. Be sure to change the visibility to "Viewable" on the bottom right before sharing!

Click the “Share Presentation” button found at the bottom of the right column.

Click "Copy" to copy the quick link to the video.

Navigate to KU D2L and enter to your course. There are two methods for adding Mediasite presentations to a D2L course. Each method is described below. Choose the method that best fits your course structure.

Method 1: External Link

Enter the “Content” area of your course.

Enter the module where the link will live. Click “Upload / Create” and choose “Create a Link” from the list.

Enter a title for the link. This should be the title of your Mediasite video (or something descriptive so students know what the video is about). Then, paste the URL (ctrl + v) in the URL field. Click “Create” to add the link to the module.

The video will post as an individual link in your content module.

You can repeat this process to create a separate link for each Mediasite video. You can also create a channel in Mediasite to group your videos. This would require only a single link to be shared in D2L.

Method 2: Content Page Link

Create or edit an HTML content page that references the Mediasite presentation.

Highlight the text that will serve as the link to the presentation (video title or description). Click “Insert Quicklink” and choose “URL” from the list.

Paste the link from Mediasite in the “URL” field and click “Insert.”

You can continue editing the HTML Content page. When you’re finished, be sure to click “Publish” to create the link.
